Ingredients
***PART 1***
2 tbsp cooking oil
3 lbs Beef chuck tender, cut into 1-inch cubes
1 lb Lean ground beef
30 oz beef broth
8 oz tomato sauce
4 dashes Tabasco sauce (tapatio and more than 4 dashes)
1 1/2 tbsp onion powder
3/4 tsp cayenne pepper
***PART 2***
3/4 tsp garlic powder
1 1/2 tbsp cumin
3/4 tsp white pepper
4-6 tbsp New Mexico chili powder
salt to taste
Optional:
add 4 oz strong coffee and 1-2 oz chocolate.
Directions:
Heat oil in Dutch oven. When oil is simmering add all beef. Brown beef. Stir in remaining ingredients of Part 1. Heat to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer uncovered about 1 1/2 hours, adding water or beef broth as needed, until beef is tender. Stir in the ingredients of Part 2. Simmer uncovered about 30 minutes or until desired consistency is reached.
coffee and chocolate? interesting… did you add these optional ingredients to your chili? I need to try this!!!

Hey Miss Susie,
I did use the optional ingredients. They add a ton of depth to the flavor and will leave your guests guessing what you added. I suggest using a Mexican chocolate but any will do. Brew that coffee strong or use espresso instead. Add those ingredients with Part 2 of the recipe.
